How will charges appear on my card statement?
Last updated: August 22, 2026
Payments to Kafkana appear on your card statement as "OVERSEAS PURCHASE", because the payment is processed through an overseas payment network.
Neither the service name "Kafkana" nor our company name appears on the statement. Even if you share a statement with family, the service name stays private.
The flip side is that your own purchase can easily look like a charge you don't recognize. You can review what you purchased anytime from your purchase confirmation email and your account page.
Why is the payment processed through an overseas network?
Services that offer adult content fall outside the accepted business categories of most major domestic payment services in Japan. Kafkana is no exception, so those payment options are not available to us.
We therefore process payments through a payment provider that supports adult services (SUI PAYMENT). That provider settles through an overseas acquiring bank, so your card issuer treats the charge as a foreign transaction and the statement reads "OVERSEAS PURCHASE".
In other words, the "OVERSEAS PURCHASE" descriptor reflects how the payment is routed — it does not mean you purchased from a company abroad.
Am I paying a company outside Japan?
No. Kafkana is operated by Appligon Inc., a Japanese company, and we operate under Japanese law. Your contract is with us. Only the payment route passes through an overseas network.
Our legal name, address, contact details, pricing, and cancellation terms are all published in our Commercial Transactions Act disclosure. How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
A side effect of this setup
Because the payment is routed overseas, some card issuers restrict foreign transactions and may decline the charge. Retrying repeatedly with a card that was already declined can make your issuer suspect fraud and decline it further.
